Terms of Service

The short version. Monee is a budgeting app. It records what you tell it and what you confirm; it never moves money and it is not financial advice. Your password protects your ledger and cannot be recovered by us. Keep a backup. Monee Offline, which has no account, has its own terms.

1. Agreement

By creating a Monee account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use Monee.

2. What Monee is

Monee is a personal budgeting application. It records accounts, transactions, budgets and categories that you enter or confirm, and shows you what they add up to.

Monee never moves money. It does not hold funds, make payments, initiate transfers or connect to your bank to act on your behalf. It is a record of money you have already moved.

Monee is not financial advice. Nothing in the app is a recommendation about what to spend, save or invest. Figures shown are derived from what has been recorded and may be incomplete or wrong if what was recorded was. Check anything that matters against your bank.

3. Your account

4. Your password, and what we cannot do

Your ledger is encrypted with a key derived from your password, which we never receive. This means we cannot recover your data if you lose your password. Resetting it from an email link restores access to the account but not to the ledger stored under the old password.

Export a backup file and keep it somewhere you control. It is the only recovery path that does not depend on remembering the password.

5. Your content

Your ledger is yours. We claim no ownership of it and no right to use it. We could not read it if we wanted to. You are responsible for having the right to record whatever you record.

6. Acceptable use

Do not:

7. Availability

Monee is offered as it is. There is no guaranteed uptime, and the service or any feature may change or be withdrawn. The app is built to keep working on your device without a connection; syncing needs one.

8. No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, Monee is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for lost or corrupted data, including data made unreadable by a forgotten or reset password. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits.

10. Paid features

Monee has a free plan and a paid plan, Monee Pro. The free plan limits how many accounts, budgets and scheduled transactions you can add, how many receipts you can scan each month and how many banks' alerts Monee files for you; Pro lifts those limits. The limits only ever stop you adding more: export, backup, security, charts and everything you have already recorded are never limited, and you keep all of it if you stop paying.

In the iOS and Android apps, Pro is sold through the App Store or Google Play, which charge you, renew the subscription until you cancel it in your store account, and handle refunds under their own terms. Our purchase service, RevenueCat, receives your Monee account id so a purchase unlocks Pro on your account. In the web app, Pro is paid through Verify Checkout (checkout.verify.et) for the period shown at checkout and does not renew by itself. Prices are shown before you pay. A promo code gives Pro for the days it states.

11. Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from More → Delete account, which removes your account and your stored ledger. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law.

12. Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top changes with them, and material changes will be surfaced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Monee after that means you accept the new terms.
